Nana Nauwald, is a visual artist, author, and researcher of shamanism in indigenous and European traditions. She is guest professor at the University of Art in Braunschweig, and lives in Germany. For many years, her work has combined painting with the spiritual worlds of the old European visual arts. Her eighteen years working with indigenous cultures (South America and Siberia) have been a major source of her inspiration and influence on her artwork.
She is the author of a number of books, including ‘Flying with Shamans: In Fairy Tales and Myths’, and ‘Ecstatic Trance: New Ritual Body Postures a Workbook’ with Felicitas Goodman. Her art has been exhibited internationally both in Europe and the USA.
In this presentation, Nana is offering through words and visual imagery, a journey through the inner doors of perception leading to the realisation that there is nothing on the ‘outer world’ that does not have its equivalent in our ‘inner world’.
Conscious perception is a creative process; conscious insight can open our inner gaze, allowing us varied perspectives. From this multiplicity emerges in-sight into the nature of that which appears as form and expression; the in-formation, the spirit. Paintings can be an expression of a transpersonal quality of life and can lead into the contact to the inner cosmos and the universe.
The Flying Serpent – An Adventure of Creative Trance
During this experiential workshop, Nana will inspire through rhythmic stimulation an exploration with ritual body postures to induce a healthy state of insight and connection with your inner wisdom, to access and energize your inner creativity. This body of practices is based on the work by the anthropologist Dr. Felicitas Goodman and is firmly rooted in ancient shamanic traditions.
