The Plant Dieta, is a discipline required of Amazonian shamans, healers, and apprentices who wish to learn directly from the plant spirits. It implies much more than mere dietary restrictions of avoiding salt, sugar, meat, and alcohol. While the definition of ‘consciousness’ remains a slippery concept, there seems to be little doubt that artistic expression – the ability to project abstract or aesthetic concepts into the real world -- is critically dependent on consciousness. Only conscious beings create art. So when it comes to addressing the question, ‘how old is consciousness?’ it seems that the only way to even hope to answer this question is to examine the oldest known evidence for human artistic expression.
In unresolved trauma, the past is always present and the experience of overwhelming life events can alter our perceptions of both time and space. This seminar explores the role of linear and non-linear time and the perception of time in understanding the causes, experience and healing of individual, family and social trauma.
